CREATING SPARKS: KISSING THE FLINT TO FIRE UP AT #AGNESBLUESFEST 2026

Home-grown Gladstone region artist Kissing The Flint will return from her current UK base in February 2026 to rock the #AgnesBluesFest Marquee Stage, joining a stellar summer line-up of performers including ambassador artist Minnie Marks, 8-Ball Aitken, Mitch King and Craig Atkins.

Leah Chynoweth-Tidy is a multi-award nominated singer-songwriter and proud Gladstone Region girl now flying the flag on the global stage with her original music. She created Kissing The Flint (translation: ‘creating a spark’) in 2015 to focus on her songwriting and has since performed at many venues, events and Festivals across both hemispheres. She has shared main stage bills with Tex Perkins, Vika & Linda, Hussy Hicks, Hat Fitz & Cara, Round Mountain Girls, Top Loader, Tide Lines and The Hoosiers.

Authenticity and emotion flow through Kissing The Flint’s connective songwriting and empowering live performances, driven by a powerful, versatile voice. Song themes flow from an adventurous spirit with crystal clarity of message and vivid imagery drawn from experience, empathy and imagination. Her creative mentors include acclaimed Australian female artists Katie Noonan, Deborah Conway, Clare Bowditch, Tania Doko (Bachelor Girl), Francesca de Valence, Roz Pappalardo (Women In Docs, Lontano) and Sam Buckingham. She has been a prolific member of I Heart Songwriting Club since 2022, writing over 150 songs.

Kissing The Flint’s 2019 EP Unconditionalityand 2024 EP Standing On The Fringe of Rooms were both recorded with Dave Beacon at High Lion Studio near Gladstone. Her 2022 single ‘Dune Girl’ was shortlisted for the Australian Songwriting Assocation (ASAI) awards and her 2024 single  All We Can Do made the final Indie-Rock Category Top 10 in the ASAI awards and earned a commended in the UK Songwriting Competition. This versatile artist’s single Fare Thee Well Lament was also nominated for Australian Celtic Song of the Year 2020.

Kissing The Flint’s third studio project Rule The World will be released in early 2026. Recorded with Huey Dowling at Unit 7 Studio, SW Scotland and mastered by Ben Findlay (Peter Gabriel, Robert Plant, Jeff Beck), the album’s soul, country pop/rock and ska influences are set to showcase Leah’s songwriting versatility and an empowered shift towards a fresh new sound.
