Get ready to giddy up on a wild ride with Horse Drawn Cadillac when they burn up the Agnes Blues, Roots & Rock Festival main Marquee Stage for the first time next February. They’ll be joining a sizzling summer line-up headlined by Antipodean legends Dragon.
Mixing an ever-evolving batch of homegrown originals with a few rare hidden gems from deep within the vault of musical treasures, Horse Drawn Cadillac makes you feel like you’re on a wayward journey to New Orleans via Chicago. Their breath-stealing shows are a bump and roll ride with some high octane horses.
In full flight, their 9-piece band is powered by a trio of soulful and gritty singers – Amanda Bartley (Midnight Feast), Tegan Portener (Casuarina Light Phenomenon) and Pearl Noire (several outfits!) – driven by players with a Cadillac-full of festival experience, both prior to and including Horse Drawn Cadillac.
Core band members include Nello (Southerly Change/Benji and the Saltwater Sound System/Big Erie/Ecobeat) on harmonica, Wayne Rigby (The Specialties, Bonnie Kaye and The Bona Fides) on sax and flute, Wil Van Eckert (Low Down Riders, CK and the 45’s) on drums, Duff Riley (Ramstone) on percussion and the dual guitar attack of Matt and Marcus Adamson.
Many other ‘hitchhikers’ hop on board the Cadillac at various events, including regulars Jonno Dallimore (Cass Eager, Benji), and Jaden Spence, with keyboard also adding to a powerful mix on this wild ride.
Horse Drawn Cadillac formed from an idea, a washboard and cravings for the Southern USA, when band founder Trev felt there were many music stories to be told. Standing on the corner of then and now, contemplating the musical shape of the world, it seemed like time was running out and it was high time to do something with that time remaining. Which turned out to be a considerable amount.
Horse Drawn Cadillac was then mustered for a wayward post-apocalyptic journey, starting out in Chicago. The rest, as they say, is history and it’s been one wild ride ever since.
