The 8-Tracks a Itas a Motown Kinda Thing
Born out of a mutual love and respect for the music that came out of Michigan during the late 60as, a?The 8-Tracksa are a Brisbane based 8-piece band bringing back the sounds of soul music from the classic Motown and Stax eras.
Formed in 2015, and selling out their first headlining show, a?The 8-Tracksa bring their vintage flair to events, weddings, and fundraisers across south east Queensland. Fronted by a rotating roster of some of Queenslandas best soul sisters, and backed by a tight brass and rhythm section, a night with a?The 8-Tracksa will ensure a night of classic hits, and infectious grooves.
Singers from a?The 8-Tracksa band provide 3- and 4- part vocal harmonies that evoke the classic sounds of the great Motown and Tamla studios, carefully crafted by the talented vocal team a each a powerhouse performer in her own right. They are supported by the a?Track Brothersa – a tight and talented band of experienced musicians who are happy to sit in the groove all night long to ensure they get those booties moving. The rhythm section knows how to play Motown right, a?cos some of them have actually toured with Motown artists.
Cat from The 8-Tracks says, a?So we are more than a little excited to announce that The 8-Tracks have been asked to play the Agnes Blues Roots and Rock Festival on 18 February 2018. With awesome acts such as GANGgajang, 19-Twenty and Olivia Ruth playing the fest, we are excited to be closing it out on the Sunday afternoon at 2:30pm.
If youave ever wanted to visit this beautiful part of the world, or even just to return, hereas an excuse. We hope to see you there!a? So, come down and check out a?The 8-Tracksa and get your groove on! Just donat forget to bring your dancing shoes!
And another making her first appearance at the festival is Karrie Hayward
When you blend the rich, soulful vocal tones with the vibrant, percussive timbre of a guitar, you get Karrie Hayward a practically music when it meets the ocean.
This folk pop singer-songwriter is making waves on the surface with a new single, a?Gypsiesa freshly released and charting in the Top 10 on the ITunes Singer-Songwriter chart, Number 3 on the Triple J Unearthed Pop Chart and Number 6 on the Overall Triple J Unearthed chart, following her debut single a?Elijaha which reached Top 10 on the ITunes Singer-Songwriter chart.
Since spending most of her life basking in the tropical environment of the Whitsundays, this songstress spontaneously decided to find the ultimate ratio of adventure and music by moving further down the coast. Buying a rough van and turning it into a home on wheels, Karrie travelled solo, playing shows all the way from Mackay to Byron Bay collecting inspiration all around.
a?One of the best things I ever did was getting a van and being able to travel anywhere my music takes me. Opening up so many exciting opportunities and being able to collaborate with musicians while camping in their backyard is definitely a life I enjoy living.a?
Since performing at local music festivals at the age of nine, Haywardas love of music, in all genres, grew. Drawing inspiration from many different artists, Karrieas own style is a blend of the best parts of folk, pop, alt and blues. Her unique music combines soul with the ocean, musically, seeking sounds similar to John Butler, Jack Johnson and Cody Simpson.
Karrie is a?Immersing myself in music, jams, lots of surf and good vibesa? and after a recent Vanlife gathering, is keen to bring her little wagon (van) up to Agnes Water in February.
Check out her festival moves at 5pm on Friday 16 February at the Agnes Blues, Roots and Rock Festival, after her recent acclaim at Timberfest, Airlie Beach Festival of Music, Nimbin Roots and many music loving venues up and down the east coast of Australia. You will love it!
